Sólyom Major - Gut Falkenhof

Welcome to Gut Falkenhof

In the very heart of Transylvania, in a small village between the counties of Harghita and Mureș, a former farm has been transformed into a special place where hospitality, nature, and living tradition come together. Gut Falkenhof combines rural idyll with authentic Székely culture, creating a retreat for anyone seeking peace, unspoiled nature, and authentic experiences. In addition, there are many nearby, easily accessible destinations to explore.

Our History

The history of Gut Falkenhof began back in 2007 with our first three horses. When we took over the property and its existing farm buildings in 2016, we set to work with great passion on renovating and carefully remodeling them. The former cowshed, built in 1957, was transformed into our horse stable with an indoor riding arena, while the former grain silo, built in 1967, was converted into our guesthouse. As early as 2017, our farm and the animals moved to its current location—and, step by step, our vision became what is now Gut Falkenhof.

Animals, Nature & Sustainability

To this day, our estate remains a thriving farm. In addition to our horses, our daily life includes Carpathian Brown Cattle, Jacob sheep, a donkey, chickens, pot-bellied pigs, ducks, as well as dogs and cats. The animals are an integral part of our farm life and shape the unique character of our property. Sustainability plays an important role for us. With our own solar power system, rainwater harvesting, wood from our own forest, and the planting of over 500 native fruit trees, we are consciously investing in the responsible and forward-looking development of our farm.

Our Philosophy

We want to introduce our guests to the authentic Transylvania—honest, genuine, and with great attention to detail. We don’t just preserve traditions; we live them every day. An important part of our philosophy is the “Farm to Table” principle. Many ingredients come directly from our farm or the immediate region. This results in authentic products and dishes that reflect traditional Székely cuisine and bring the flavors of the region to life.

Equestrian Sports and Living Traditions

Horses have been part of the Falkenhof estate since its inception. Today, our farm is home to sport, school, and recreational horses. Through riding lessons, riding camps, and regular participation in regional and national competitions, we promote equestrian sports and share our enthusiasm with people of all ages. We are also deeply committed to preserving regional traditions. Since 2009, we have been hosting the Sekler Equestrian and Cultural Festival, where equestrian art, traditional dances, regional crafts, and culinary specialties bring the region’s cultural diversity to life.

A Place to Call Home

Gut Falkenhof is more than just a bed-and-breakfast—it’s a place where history, nature, hospitality, and tradition come together in perfect harmony. We look forward to sharing our passion for country life and the culture of Transylvania with our guests and giving them unforgettable moments on our farm.
